FLORAL WALLPAPERS – not for the pattern-shy, 2017’s take on the botanical trend is positively floricultural…
Spring inevitably leads to thoughts of the outdoors and the garden (no wonder in the UK where we have been indoors and sewn into our thermals since October). With it comes a nod to florals; from those brave first flowers that inject colour into the grey and the much-welcomed new season patterns and prints for our interiors.
Botanical and garden-inspired prints have been with us for a season or two now but are becoming decidedly more romantic this year. It won’t be long until magnolia and peonies will be flooding our Instagram feeds and who could forget last year’s wisteria hysteria?
If your tastes err on the minimal and stay firmly at one-stem-in-a-vase camp, look away now, these new ‘floritanicals’ are more WI-on-acid, blousy, oversized blooms. The British love-affair with horticulture shows no sign of slowing and its go bold or go home where floral wallpaper is concerned.
If you’re hesitant to try this look, why not try a small room like a WC or one wall or have look on sites like Wallpaperdirect where you can get an idea of room sets with your chosen paper. These are five of my faves of the new season prints which I think sum up the trend perfectly..
