Am rarely able to keep up with all the fab hashtag series so I opt out (like crosswords, because I know I can't actually complete one 😂).... but randomly, I find myself sitting down at this time of night (got to love a school holiday elastic bedtime...) . . So here is #myhappyplace in the living room in my book corner with the upcycled bar cart (there's a blog on it's easypeasy transformation from humble tea trolley, if you click the link in profile and go back a few blogs on my website) . . From here I can read, chuck another log on the fire and reach the slow gin all without really standing up....now tell me that's not a happy place.... . . . So many shades of pink in the world there really is something for everyone.... from peach to rose via candy and baby, neon and fuschia ....some we love some we loathe and they represent such different things to different people. One person's perfect pink is another's 'Barbie in a blender' ..... . . This is way too strong for me to have in my own home but I absolutely LOVE it here....particularly the way the room.is styled.   • #tbt my kitchen when it didn't rain every day . . . I know we have an obsession with weather in this country but is it any wonder....? my whole family smells like a wet dog... . the kitchen is so dark when we get up we need headtorches and the idea of getting out playdoh for the youngest reluctant human is like an appointment for root canal work....*throws hands to sky dramatically* . . Can we accept that the minute the sun comes out we should all be given the day off and a beach/park/field pass? . . Aside from battling the eldest teen over screen time, today I am going to be in here (face under the coffee machine) researching courses in speech therapy....I feel it's time to begin...🖤 . .   • Double denim..... . . What a beauty...how gorgeous is this sofa? I love a denim sofa and was so sad when we finally got rid of ours...it had experienced unspeakably challenging treatment at the hands..(and feet and faces not to mention other body parts) of three children. Not pretty. You'll thank me for NOT posting a photo of that. . . Back to this divine specimen though and how well does it work against the bare brick wall? A match made in industrial luxe heaven. . . Denim is actually really durable so a great choice for a sofa and (a bit like a decent pair of jeans) can be dressed up or down depending on the look your after. #versatile . . . @dream_casa
  • ⚡Biff 👊 Pow 💥Wham ⚡............ (that's a punch of coral) . . . What I love about this is the fab contrast between the formal buttoning of the chair against that rough plaster / concrete industrial wall..(and that punchy coral obvs)..rockin' 🤘 . . Mixing it up is usually a good idea. Unless its your anti-perspirant and your dry shampoo...(oh yes I did 😕) . . Friday night and there is actually (whisper it) a sun in the sky...feels like a summer evening at last. Enjoy the weekend lovelies 🥂 . . 📷: @o.interior
  • Over share, don't care.... . . Whats the Insta-equivalent of a Kanye meltdown? Posting pictures of discarded polystyrene burger cartons? Posting blank squares? Not posting? Who knows? This could be mine.... . . Its safe to say despite the machiavellian @instagram algorithms which rule our lovely feed (often hiding the good stuff or the smaller accounts which STILL cheeses me off to the back teeth), there is always a warm welcome waiting for you from the Insta-community hillside. . . The creativity and talent is incredible (and limitless it seems) and the humour is like living inside an episode of Monty Python or the Friends coffee shop .... escapism at its best. . . Everyone has their shit to deal with and sharing it with the group (or not) makes life outside the 'Gram, one hundred percent more manageable. The curated, exquisite feeds are no accurate** reflection of anyone's real life (we have our own laundry piles and hellish cupboards of crap, we really dont need to see each others...) but they're like dressing up for a party; you don't have to do it but everyone appreciates the effort.... . . There is a wealth of talent and a behemoth of interests to follow no matter what your after (steady on, I meant interiors, fashion, health, travel etc) and you can even (mostly) avoid pictures of Kim Kardashian's arse and image-obsessed, multi-filtered youths inane, indecipherable banality. Which is nice. . . So hell-yeah for the Instagram community, huzzah for all the effort that goes into each and every square and FFS keep-it-coming with the hilarious, poignant, curious, exasperated, hungover, proud, revealing, honest, what-the-hell-do-I-do-with-this? posts and chit chat. It keeps the wheels from coming off in my world, possibly yours too. . . . There, am done. Here endeth the sermon. *Watches Followers drop off like lemmings* . . . **For a laugh-out-loud read on whats often behind the squares, go to @_lisa_dawson_ 's blog post on Insta reality.   • Ohmergawd...... . . I am so partial to a bit of lucite /perspex / acrylic its *nearly* a problem. . . . This side table is irresistible...look at its legs through that generous slice of see-through topping. . . Its safe to say, alongside THESE pink chairs, on THIS rug and with THAT super cool vase & cacti it is definitely my favourite look bar none....sadly I don't live in a Californian, slate-covered, sprawling, mid-century ocean-facing palace** or these bad boys would be mine #roomgoals . . 📷 : @highfashionhome . . ** right now with the rain coming in sideways, the dog crossing his legs staring at the drops coming down the glass doors and the just-discernable background sound of children squabbling over an i-pad, I would sell a kidney to be in Cali....
